Bindu Mehra

Bindu's work reflects her strong interest in drawing. She references Indian craft practices through the use of various media such as lace, sequence, flowers, video, drawings etc. She uses images of military weaponry, juxtaposing the same with traditional motifs from various cultures of the world. Some of the images are often sandwiched within relief like sculptural works made from hot glue and painted canvas. The work appears somewhat ironical- making war weaponry transcend into extremely beautiful images that are often delicate and feminine in appearance and suggest sensuality. Bindu is keenly interested in current social, political and economic issues and often uses satire and paradox as operatives in her content. She is an artist from India and lives between Delhi, Mumbai and London.
