Visual Diary Drawings

In 1996, I found an unused diary from 1969. In which I started to make a drawing a day, a process which evolved into a drawing about that day’s experiences.

Past events echo and manifest themselves again in future entries. Often parts of yesterday's entry come through the paper and become intrinsic to the next day's work. News events, popular culture and technology add to the mix. - an artist book project that I have been working on ever since.

Now that I have over eleven years worth of drawings (approximately 4,000 entries) in the Visual Diary project, I am now looking to exhibit the diaries / drawings, make derivative art pieces, installations and artist film / animations.

These culturally diverse works have been described as modern day British-Indian miniature paintings. Todays global information structures have helped to inform an International aspect to the work.

The project has recently been researched and studied throughout the UK and used by a number of students as the basis for their response to an AS and A-Level Art exam question based on visual diaries.

The diaries have already been shown on BBC television, radio and internet on several occasions, as well as other web sites and publications.
